Small History of Karaoke/Interesting Facts Over 20 years ago Japanese business men and women stopped by their favorite bar after a long day a work, shared a drink, and started their favorite pastimes of singing karaoke for a way to relax and spend time with friends. “Karappo” translated to “kara” means empty and “okesutura” translated to “oke” means orchestra. Karaoke being an interactive form of entertainment has continued to spread with establishments having weekend, weekday, and even daily entertainment of amateur singers worldwide. Even the most influential and famous musicians and artists kick back to sing karaoke. In 2003 China, the automobile dealer Geely introduced a car named the Geely BL (Beauty Leopard) equipped with a built in karaoke machine.
